Zaha Hadid Architects won the International Competition for the Design of the New EuskoTren Headquarters in Durango, Spain.
Besides the requirements for a new and iconic HQ and commercial buildings, EuskoTren’s ambition with the site and brief demanded a broader response and contribution towards the urban regeneration in the centre of Durango.
The 7 storys building will occupy a total area of 7,291,35 m2. General information – exhibition spaces and entrances for both the HQ and Commercial Centre will be located on the ground floor. In front of the HQ there will be a taxi and bus interchange.
As part of the urban intervention the construction of an underground Commercial & Leisure Centre is integrated with car parking facilities.

The new Durango Station is to be located underground with access up to a separate ground floor entrance facing Ezkurdi Plaza. In front of the station is a car drop off. All services will be concealed underground with one central platform located 14 metres below ground level.
EuskoTren are excavating and sinking new tracks to run underground and emerge on the opposite site of Durango.
By concealing the tracks and providing a new lower- level station, all ground is vacated and made available for the creation of a new public park.
